House exterior and landscape design in Tinos

The house close to St. Romano beach has a wonderful view of the seaside, but the owners prefer to spend most of their time in the back yard and the garden area of the house – a ‘protected inner’ landscape. The house is surrounded by an orchard, which –together with the slate-covered yard – create a different space and scale in relation to the surrounding Cycladic landscape. For the yard, we proposed to create different levels of experience: starting from the water tank, down to the small, shallow water ponds, then to the the orchard and ending at the ‘fire’ space, the barbeque/exterior kitchen. where the food is cooked in a traditional way. As architects, we envisioned including all of the five elements of nature while connecting with the family’s daily needs.
